Yes! These sessions are short, but they are thoughtfully guided and intentionally paced. I’ll help with positioning, natural prompts and movement so we can create a combination of polished family portraits and genuine interactions.
Mini sessions are especially helpful for young children who may do better with a shorter experience.
-
Mini sessions are designed for one immediate family. If you’d like to include grandparents, multiple households or an extended family group, please contact me before booking. A longer family session may be a better fit so we have enough time to photograph everyone and create the group combinations you want.
-
Choose outfits that coordinate without matching exactly. Soft neutrals, natural earth tones and subtle colors—such as cream, beige, sage, warm taupe, dusty blush and light caramel—photograph beautifully in many of our San Diego settings.
Start with one outfit you love, often Mom’s, and build the rest of the family’s clothing around it. Natural fabrics and textures such as linen, cotton, lace, light knits and flowing materials add visual interest without distracting from your family.
Avoid large logos, neon colors and very busy patterns. Most importantly, choose clothing that feels comfortable and allows everyone to move naturally.

Absolutely. You don’t need to arrive knowing what to do in front of the camera. I’ll guide your family through positioning, movement and simple prompts while watching for the natural expressions and connections that happen in between.
-
Children don’t need to behave perfectly for us to create meaningful photographs. I expect little ones to need time, movement and encouragement. We may play, walk, cuddle or take a quick reset rather than forcing every child to look at the camera.
Please make sure children are rested and fed before arriving, and feel free to bring a small, non-messy snack or comfort item if needed.
-
Plan to arrive at the location early enough to park, walk to our meeting point and make any final adjustments before your scheduled appointment. Some locations require more time for parking and walking, so please review the location instructions sent before your session.
Appointments are scheduled back to back. Arriving late will reduce your photography time and the session cannot be extended.
-
You’ll receive detailed location information before your session, including the best navigation address, parking guidance and our specific meeting point. Some of the listed locations cover a large area, so please follow the provided directions rather than relying only on the general location name.
-
Dogs are welcome only at locations where they are legally permitted. Coronado Dog Beach is the best option for families who want their dog to be an important part of the session.
For other locations, please check with me before booking or bringing a pet. Dogs should be comfortable around people and other animals, and I strongly recommend bringing a helper who can hold the leash when your dog is not being photographed.
-
San Diego weather can change quickly, particularly at the coast. I’ll monitor the forecast and location conditions as your session approaches. Sessions will generally continue through marine layer, clouds or light coastal weather as long as conditions remain safe and photographable.
If a session must be changed because of unsafe weather, location closure or another condition outside our control, you’ll receive updated instructions and the options available under your booking agreement.
-
Mini sessions are reserved for a specific date, location and appointment time, with a limited number of sessions available at each location. Please review the cancellation, transfer and rescheduling terms included in your booking agreement before reserving your appointment.
-
Your gallery will be delivered online within approximately two weeks of your session. You’ll be able to view the photographs and select the 8 digital images included with your collection.
Additional digital images and professional prints may be purchased through the gallery. Rush delivery may also be available for an additional fee.
